FIRST MONDAY OF ADVENT
ADAM AND EVE, THE FIRST SIN
SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 3: 1 - 7
However, their disobedience—eating
the forbidden fruit—brought sin and brokenness into the world. This act of
defiance severed their close relationship with God and introduced suffering and
death. Yet, even in their failure, God did not abandon them. He clothed them,
provided for them, and promised a Savior (Genesis 3:15), foreshadowing the
ultimate redemption through Jesus Christ.
Adam and Eve’s story reminds us of
the consequences of sin but also of God’s mercy and His desire to restore what
was lost. It sets the stage for the entire narrative of salvation, where Jesus,
the "new Adam," will conquer sin and death to bring us back into
relationship with God.
PRAYER:
Heavenly
Father, we thank You for Your mercy and love, even when we fail. Help us to
turn away from sin and follow the path You have set for us. May we always trust
in Your promise of redemption through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
