Reflection - 31 He(art) of Friendship

                     He(art) of Friendship

(On International Friendship Day - July 30)

Tell me who is your friend and I will tell you who you are said by Socrates.

We all celebrate a day to wish a friend. It is always beautiful to have a friend on our side to give his shoulder on all occasions.

But in this fast running world and amidst this pandemic we get confused to find out

Who is a friend?
What is friendship?
How to find a real friend?
How to befriend someone?

Lots of questions pop up in our mind. I can't give a complete theorised answer for the above questions. Because it varies with persons. Friendship is also a very holy, genuine and important in one's life. Friendship is no lesser compared to marital love.

In marriage we become a part of a new family but in friendship part of many families become one.

Favouritism in friendship happens all the time. But a genuine friend will support you only for the good of yours even at the cost of losing himself.

A friend is someone who never knows you fully but who knows the better part of you truly. His/her ears are the one which stays so long to your lamentations and never easily closes.

A friend can be your well-wisher when you do good, as well as your better enemy when you are bad at times.

Neither a person who always accompanies you is your friend nor a person whom you want to accompany with.

A person who openly confronts your mistakes can be your best friend too.

Jesus had friends and he gave a meaning to his friendship. He danced, ate, drank Moreover taught,  forgave, accepted, confronted, and at last gave up his life as he said.

Let's Pray:
O Lord befriend my soul. Amen.
