Jesse Tree - WEEK 1 - Day 4 - Wednesday

FIRST WEDNESDAY OF ADVENT

ABRAHAM AND THE PROMISE

SCRIPTURE READING: Genesis 12:1-7, 15:1-6

Abraham, known as the "Father of Faith," was called by God to leave his home and follow Him to an unknown land. God promised Abraham that he would become the father of a great nation and that through his descendants, all the nations of the earth would be blessed. Despite his old age and Sarah's barrenness, Abraham believed in God's promise, and it was credited to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6).

Abraham’s faith was profoundly tested when God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac, the child of promise. Abraham obeyed, trusting in God’s provision, and God spared Isaac, providing a ram instead. This act foreshadowed God’s ultimate sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, for the salvation of the world.

Abraham’s story reminds us of the importance of trust and obedience in our relationship with God. His unwavering faith in God’s promises is an example for us to follow, especially when the path ahead is unclear or challenging.

 PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the faith of Abraham, who trusted in Your promises even when they seemed impossible. Help us to follow his example of obedience and trust, knowing that You are always faithful to Your word. May we find hope in the blessings You provide through Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of all Your promises. Amen.
