SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
MOSES
SCRIPTURE READING: Exodus 2:1 through 4:20
Moses
is one of the most important figures in the Old Testament, chosen by God to
lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. His life demonstrates God’s power,
guidance, and desire for freedom and justice for His people. When God spoke to
Moses through the burning bush, He revealed His plan to rescue the Israelites,
showing that He hears the cries of His people and acts to deliver them.
Moses
faithfully obeyed God’s call, confronting Pharaoh, parting the Red Sea, and
leading the Israelites through the wilderness. On Mount Sinai, God gave Moses
the Ten Commandments, which provided guidance for how His people
should live in relationship with Him and with each other. Moses’ leadership and
the covenant remind us of the importance of obedience, faith, and God’s desire
for a holy people.
